When it comes to listening to our intuition, let’s explore the difference between intention setting and goal setting and how to tap into our soul’s desires!
I get asked a lot about the difference between intention setting vs goals. Maybe you’re wondering what the difference is between the two as well.
It’s a good question, and the distinction between these two is often misunderstood. Both are essential to creating a joyful and purposeful business.
I’ve always been good at setting goals and achieving them. They’re the key to moving things forward in your business & life. However, it wasn’t until I leaned into intention setting that I discovered that this is what truly sparked my soul.
Curious to know more about the differences between intentions vs goals, and how to use each? Keep reading to find out.
Goal setting is a methodical, head-driven process. I use goal setting to help me get to the next stage of achievement with my business and my life. If I need to figure out the exact steps that will get me from where I am now to where I want to be, this is the process I lean on.
While everyone has a different goal setting that works for them, your goals should provide you with both your objective and how you’re going to get there. They should be specific, measurable, and time-bound. At the end of the timeframe, it should be very clear whether or not you’ve met your goal.
Intentions come from a soul level, and they are guided more intuitively than goals. They come when we tap into the heart (as opposed to the “head” energy of goals).
If goals are rooted in what you want to do, I believe that intentions are about who you want to be. They help you figure out how you want to move through the world and help you to live every day grounded in your purpose.
Setting Intentions vs Goals
Both intentions and goals play key roles in my life. Goals keep me on track to get where I’m going, but my intentions make my heart and soul sing while I’m on my way toward my destination. Intentions help me remain present and in alignment with myself in all things.
Start with setting intentions. If you like to meditate or journal, these are great tools for connecting to your soul and hearing what it has to say.
Try not to judge anything that comes up for you, and try not to limit yourself. Listen to what your inner voice has to say, and keep track of what you discover.
Next, move into your goal-setting process. Ask yourself how you can center your intentions in your life while still moving forward with the business and personal things you want to achieve.
